At the weekend we welcomed some very special four-legged guests to the HPH!
The heads of the Malteser rescue dog teams came together for a specialist conference on the leafy outskirts of Ludwigshafen and many of the seminar guests brought their trained rescue dogs with them. In volunteer work with rescue dogs, humans and animals form a strong team that is deployed when, for example, elderly people or children, often with dementia, get lost or people are trapped in rubble.
The training of the dogs takes several years and requires a high level of personal commitment from the dog handlers, who are themselves trained paramedics to be able to provide first aid if necessary.
Even though the work of the rescue dog teams is organized on a voluntary basis, Malteser International attaches great importance to the qualified training of the dogs and their handlers.
Respect!
A big thank you to Rolf Schmidt from Malteser International for the great organization of the conference!
