As part of the audit, hotels and catering establishments are comprehensively assessed in the areas of energy consumption, water consumption, waste generation and the purchase of regional food. The DEHOGA environmental check always takes into account the individual characteristics of each hotel to ensure fair comparability.

Background to the DEHOGA environmental check
The DEHOGA environmental check is the continuation of the energy campaign for the hospitality industry launched in 2006 together with the Federal Ministry for the Environment. Almost 6,000 entrepreneurs from the hospitality industry are now participating in this initiative. The environmental check was developed specifically for the requirements of small and medium-sized businesses in the hospitality industry and enables fair, transparent and industry-relevant comparability thanks to its practical relevance.
